Makar Sankranti is considered to be an auspicious day, celebrated with much pomp and grandeur across India. This year Makar Sankranti falls on 14/01/2015.
Makar Sankranti is celebrated as Pongal, Ugadi, Bihu and even Uttarayan in different parts of India. As the Sun or Lord Surya is known to be the King of all planets, and therefore, on this auspicious day, devotees offer prayers to Surya Dev.
It is said that whoever has a strong Sun in their horoscope, they will always excel and be far, far away from petty problems of life. The Sun indicates the king and in today’s modern world, it is aindication for the ‘boss’, ‘manager’ or a authoritative figure.
Therefore, it is suggested to all those seeking a boost in their careers, to offer prayers to Surya Dev on this day.
Puja Rituals
On this day, devotees flock to the Ganges to bathe in the holy river. Later they participate in the Mahashringar of Goddess Baglamukhi Puja or the Mahabhisheka Mahapujan followed by an evening aarti for Surya Dev. If one performs the Shri Satyanarayan Pujan on this day, it is considered to be very auspicious.
Legends
According to the Puranas, it is believed that on this very day Surya Dev visits his son Shani Dev. Therefore, this is an important day for fathers and sons’ as well.
For the Puja:
- All the materials needed for the Puja which normally includes Coconut, Beetle leaves, fruits, Ghee, Prasad, and Sweets etc.
- Khichdi or the Anna Dan given to the Brahmins/ Purohits who perform this pooja
- Dakshina or the Fees given to the Brahmins for performing Pooja
On ordering the Puja, the date, time and venue of the puja will be informed to the clients via Email plus a link shall be provided through which you can see your puja live. With this specific puja shall be held for each client.
The Puja rituals are performed by learned priests in strict accordance with Vedic rituals.
