Sathabhishekam (80th Birthday Pooja)
Annaprasana, also known as grain initiation or Rice feeding ceremony, is a common ritual which is performed when the child reaches the age when he/she can make a transition from liquid food to the solid food. During the ceremony, the child is usually fed with small quantities of rice or sweet payasam.
This ceremony is performed to show gratitude to the lord for showering parents with a child who is healthy and ready to eat solid food. During this ceremony, various mantras are chanted for the baby’s well being. Payasam, Nei Saadham or Milk Rice are the main ingredients which are used in this ceremony.
